KOCH Nitrogen Co. (formerly Farmland Industries, Inc.) was founded in 1929 as the Union Oil Company. The nitrogen fertilizer plant in Fort Dodge was built in 1967. Last year KOCH Nitrogen (formerly Farmland) announced plans for a major expansion of the Fort Dodge facility. the original 600 tons per day ammonia plant is expanding to 1,100 tons per day capacity and a new 1,500 tons per day nitrogen solution plant is being constructed.
