POET (formerly Horizon Ethanol) located near Jewell produces 60 million gallons of ethanol each year.  The new plant was built by the Broin Company which specializes in technology development, production, management and marketing within the ethanol industry.  POET (formerly Horizon) also produces a high-quality Dakota Gold brand livestock feed for regional, national and international markets.  POET (formerly Horizon) employs over 30 people at the Jewell facility.
