Percival Scientific, of Perry manufactures commercial plant growing chambers for controlled environments used in research applications.  Founded in 1886 in Des Moines the company initially manufactured butcher tools, machinery and fixtures.  At the turn of the century the demand for refrigerated cabinets and display units shifted the company’s focus.  In the early 1950’s at the request of Iowa State University the company became involved in controlled plant growing chambers.  Today, Percival employs over 120 people and produces 50 different models of plant growth chambers and incubators at the state-of-the-art facility in the Perry Industrial Park.  Percival chambers are the preferred choice of colleges and universities, government institutions and the private sector.
