Monsanto Company owns and operates the Dekalb seed corn plant in Boone, Iowa.  Their recent acquisition encouraged expansion of the facility along US Hwy. 30.   The original plant was built in 1975 and the facility has grown to employ 44 full time people and up to 1,500 seasonal workers.  Monsanto has several facilities across Iowa with production and research facilities helping to keep Iowa’s strong hold as the nation’s leading corn producer.
