Spencer Builds 40,000 sq. ft. Spec Building Steel is coming out of the ground for a 40,000 sq.ft. spec building in Spencer. The project is part of the new Green Industrial Center beginning to take shape on the east side of the community. The Spencer Industries Foundation recently broke ground to partner on their sixth spec building. The new building will be constructed on a 9.2 acre lot and feature 35’ sidewalls. The facility will incorporate “green” elements including natural lighting, recycled steel, and pervious pavement. David Woodcock, Treasurer of the Spencer Industries Foundation, thanked all of the partners for their support in assembling the financing for this building. “A project like this cannot be accomplished by ourselves,” he said. “We thank Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative, Corn Belt Power Cooperative, Spencer Municipal Utilities, the City of Spencer and our local banks for supporting SIF in the development of this spec building.” The Green Industrial Center will be provided power by the Spencer Municipal Utilities.
