IADG to Celebrate 25th Anniversary

A quarter century has passed and Iowa Area Development Group will mark the 25th Anniversary. In 1985 the state of Iowa was in the grips of a devastating farm crisis that threatened families, businesses and communities. It was during that critical period when Iowa’s Rural Electric Cooperatives (REC) demonstrated decisive leadership to reverse critical economic conditions for the state and rural communities. Iowa’s electric cooperatives gathered their resources and focused attention to form the Iowa Area Development Group (IADG), a community and businesses development office specifically addressing rural economic development needs. Today, Iowa’s Electric Cooperatives recognize 25 years of their collective economic development success and the formation of IADG. The IADG model is distinctive and unique in the nation as it is founded and supported by four generation and transmission power cooperatives in Iowa: Central Iowa Power Cooperative headquartered in Cedar Rapids; Corn Belt Power Cooperative, Humboldt; Northwest Iowa Power Cooperative, Le Mars; and Northeast Power Cooperative based in Palmyra, Missouri, that provides power to three distribution cooperatives in southeast Iowa.

As we celebrate a silver anniversary, we hope you will take time to share a memory, photo or testimonial regarding our partnership.   Please send an e-mail to bhansen@iadg.com with any memento.
