Hawkeye Renewables Expands in Shell Rock

Hawkeye Renewables has kicked off two major ethanol plant projects with groundbreaking ceremonies taking place in Shell Rock and Menlo.  The $140 million facility in Shell Rock will be a 100 million gallon ethanol plant and represents the largest economic development project ever built in Butler County.   The Shell Rock facility should be completed by the end of 2008 creating 44 jobs.   Butler County REC will provided power to the project near Shell Rock.    
 
Hawkeye Renewables also broke ground on a new ethanol plant in Menlo.   This will also be a 100 million gallon plant and become operational in 2008 and creating 40 jobs.   Guthrie County REC will provide power to the ethanol plant in Menlo.   Hawkeye also has ethanol plants in Iowa Falls and Fairbank, Iowa.   Once all four ethanol plants are operational, Hawkeye Renewables will be the largest ethanol producer in Iowa and the fourth largest in the United States.
